Today I had work and then bar training. Four Pines Brewing company (headquarters in Manly Beach near Sydney, Australia) came in to teach us about some of their different beers – some of which we have on tap. Fun fact- this is the first space-certified beer! We tried the Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, IPA, Kolsch, Ginger Beer, Summer Ale, Stout…. and I think I listed everything.

Working at an establishment that provides tasting and training for their employees is so important in hospitality so we, as employees, can be confident in our suggestions for specific products. Afterwards we had a cocktail training where we were shown how to properly make all of the cocktails on our menu. The end of the training we split up into teams and made our own cocktails to be considered for the menu! I was with Sacha and ours was called a ‘dark mistress’ with the Mozart chocolate liquer, amaretto, egg white, vanilla monin syrup, chocolate powder, cherry on top, crème de café (like kahlua). This was the ultimate dessert cocktail- something I don’t typically order but really felt like best adult chocolate milk I’d ever had. The next day I
got to see Daniel for the last time before he went back to the states. We walked around the city and got an incredible bubble tea. I’m not much of a juices person but it was so refreshing in the middle of a busy work-week. I’m one of the people who loves the tapioca balls and fruit jelly. It is such a hit here! Anyways, I have to add one thing about the cocktail before signing off. I have a long list of goals that I made the end of senior year of college. One of the things on this goals list (over 40 life goals in different areas: financial, spiritual, educational, professional, etc) included a miscellaneous section where I have a goal to invent a cocktail. Today, I can officially cross that off my list! This is a big moment everyone, and it all happened by chance. One of the most rewarding things is accomplishing something because of perfect circumstances. Cheers.
