Today I worked out at home and then went to the Victoria State Library with Ke. This library is so gorgeous and has sprawling great rooms with books mounted on the walls that you have to crane your neck to see.

Many of the people studying were wearing blazers and school uniforms, which gave it an even more prestigious feeling. I really love going into libraries in other countries but sometimes it makes me miss school/studying/having assignments. Sitting down and focusing on your work with strangers is something very calming.
Afterwards I had a cultural induction for Higher Ground, put on by The Mulberry Group, which is a very reputable restaurant group in Melbourne that runs my restaurant as well as many others. They have won national awards and enough acclaim to write a book or two! I drew some unprecedented parallels between their group and Boka Restaurant Group. (I worked for Boka Restaurant Group in Chicago at their stunning steakhouse, Swift & Sons.) From day to day operations to the company culture and ideas behind each restaurant, both restaurant groups are making a killing and I am so blessed to be a part of each in one way or another!
After the induction I went to the hostel to pick up Sven, a Dutch friend I met a few months ago, and we hung out at my place with the roomies. We had lovely conversations and I made some dinner for us to share. I tried to make matcha tea but truly overdid it on the scoop. Anyone like matcha reading this? In smoothies it’s much easier to mask the flavor but in tea it is a bit difficult.
