The bar started cutting my hours because I was leaving town, so I decided to make the most of my free time (even though the extra money would have been nice!) and went out on the town exploring with Ke. We started by getting bubble tea. I learned that some Chinese people call it, “milk tea”. I guess I have heard that too, but now want to know where the bubble tea name got it’s start.

After being totally refreshed and exhausting every conversation topic, we saw some of the street art near federation square.

In the evening I went to Murmur Bar alone. A coworker of mine from La Di Da named Milly used to work at Murmur Bar, which is a piano bar that serves tapas food from the restaurant underneath it. I never got to go there while she was working, but decided tonight was the perfect night! I walked up the stairs at the entrance and was greeted with a gorgeous, red-walled, drapery filled room, which would probably fit 30 people comfortably, and had a beautiful painting of a woman on the wall, overlooking a piano. I treated myself to a cocktail, got comfortable and enjoyed hearing all the classic music you hear at a piano bar (favorites are Billy Joel and Elton John). The pianist, Matt, even played harmonica during some of the songs, which definitely takes some skill to play two instruments at once. During a break, the pianist also bought me a drink! Good music and free drinks? Yes please. People- don't be afraid to go out on your own. If you can take precaution and let your guard down at the same time, you're golden.

Afterwards I went over to Beneath Driver’s Lane, a bar I had been inside before actually but never sat down in because it was too crowded. I rocked up there (aussie saying) and just sat down at the bar. With my luck, I ended up speaking to a random person seated next to me, who ended up being one of the bartenders that just finished work. More free drinks starting flowing after that and I had an amazing pastrami sandwich because why not!! Wicked night.
