June 30-July 1 The Hangover

This morning/afternoon we packed and then took a nice stroll around the casino. Reminded me of the time my parents took my sister and I a few winters ago to Las Vegas! Speaking of another awesome family trip… Anyways, after the casino we went to a thai restaurant for dinner. The thing I have found about thai restaurants is they usually have pretty decent prices and legit fill up your plate to get the most bang for your buck. Wherever we are, whatever cuisine we are having, whatever topic we are discussing, I’m truly getting the best of both worlds! My family is here AND we get to explore Australia together.

Shayna and I picked up some goon and then we met mom and dad back at the airbnb. Dad fell right asleep after dinner and shayna, mom and I got to the pre-drinking. We made a drinking game out of the card game crazy 8’s – a game that when you involve alcohol, can seriously get you messed up. Each time someone has a crazy 8, you have to take a drink. After many laughs and rounds, Shayna and I headed out for the night. We started at Pawn & Co- the place I talk about all the time, although this time was pretty different because it was a Saturday instead of a Sunday. You can’t imagine how much the crowd and music can differ between a Saturday and Sunday night. We got in there, bought some drinks, and immediately found some new friends inside of the booths.

The vibe of the night took us to Lucky Coq, that place I went to a few weeks ago for a drink, but never went there to dance and party before. Pretty early on in the night we met Chris and Dan. They are British guys who work in Sydney and we joined forces. Lucky Coq was actually bumping and the drinks were flowing. We all raged to the music and eventually Chris and I outlasted Dan and Shayna on the dance floor!

Fast forward a couple hours to the next morning. Horrible hangover. That is all I can say. In Melbourne the parties never end, so to wake up early for a flight was as bad as it got. See, today we had to leave the airbnb super early to make our plane to Adelaide.

The weird thing about airports in Australia from what we’ve seen is that they have plenty of counters to check people and their bags into flights, but they don’t have enough attendants at those counters to check people in. You’d think that they realized this by now when the line to check your bag is over an hour! And then you just zip through security?? What is this mess.

After a really rough flight and sitting in the middle seat, we made it to our hotel in Adelaide called Hotel Peppers. This place was stunning. We couldn’t check in yet so we wandered around the town. It didn’t seem like you could spend weeks in the city just touring, but there were some cute little restaurants and scenery around with the mountains. We ended up at this really small-town pancake place, and I got this incredible Russian crepe thing with cream inside and a reduced blueberry sauce.

the hangover is too real for this first day in Adelaide

Today was our chill and explore day and we ended up back at the hotel ordering pizza at night.

We had some good quality family time and then mom, shayna and I went into the hot tub to decompress. Tomorrow is a big day so we had to go to bed relatively early!
