Today I worked out and job searched, then went to the Melbourne Museum which had exhibits on a variety of topics, mostly all from an Australian narrative: First peoples, Vikings, Fast Fashion, Melbourne City History, WWI, Darwin to DNA, The Mind, Marine Life, Bugs Alive (the scariest museum exhibit I have ever seen with live spiders and insects from all over Australia! Any time someone brushed me in the exhibit I jumped)!

(stunning Viking sails)

(Yorta Yorta nineteenth century possum skin cloaks that indigenous peoples wear during various life occasions, and are eventually buried in them after death. The illustrations and possum skins are added on as the individual ages, and tells the story of their life)
I stayed at the Museum for 5 hours and even went on a 1 hour free tour with a museum volunteer to see highlights of the exhibits. I got in free to the museum as well because of my student card, so word to the wise… keep your student cards and use them as much as you can! This saved me $15 AUD. Later that night I went out with the friends I met on the walking tour to a live music bar called Cherry Bar on acdc lane. It’s soul night on Thursdays and the bands were loud, proud, and fabulous.

Afterwards we headed to some places called Toff in Town, the Rooftop, and ended at Section 8, a very cool outdoor bar covered in graffiti, where they serve drinks out of a train container. I will definitely be heading back to Section 8. The next few days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) included job and house hunting, as well as My Aeon club and Marrakech Cocktail Bar & Shisha Lounge. I also got to meet a bunch of Joel’s school friends and had a fun night in with them. The weekend flew by but we had incredible weather!
